Monkey Boy - High Wycombe, White Horse Friday 24th September 1999 |
Here we go again...another night of total insanity. I ring up the venue to find out what time the band are on, to be told it's nine thirty to ten. Get there at nine forty five to find out that they are not on until eleven...bugger! I won't review the gig again as I only saw them last Sunday, (see above), but it's worth the mention for the quote of the night...
The last song of the set. 'Fish For A Quid' is belted out with usual gusto. Then follows and extraordinarily long, long pause - even for Monkey Boy. Someone in the crowd shouts something out, incoherently. Mark slowly moves towards the mic..."Fishing's a waiting game, you know!" Everyone falls about. They just get better and better.
