Reuben - London, Monarch Tuesday 4th September 2001
I've missed this band on numerous occasions - too many to count, if the truth be told. Jamie (vox & guitar) has always been hassling me to come to one of the shows, as has Barney, their loopy manager and demi-god of the Aldershot scene.

I'd heard them on CD, but the live experience was something I was really not prepared for. It was harder, louder and fatter than any of their releases can possibly get across. This may sound like a cliché, but they really could easily be the young Nirvana when they were plying their way across the USA when no one knew who they were.

Radio friendly they may be, which isn't to everyone's taste, but they do indeed rock!

They also have two (out of three) members that interact with the crowd to great effect, and as such the inevitable spaces during tuning are not the normal pregnant pauses of many bands of their ilk.

They will go far and with the help of the right label, could possibly even make a smash-and-grab into the wilderness that is the UK charts.
