Black Heart Procession - Amore Del Tropico [lp] Touch & Go
A band that previously I had semi written off as fairly joyless piano led gloom indie rockers shocked me with this record which, in the main, sounds like a sleazy, evil Calexico! With occasional asides into proper 70's pop music like ‘Did You Wonder’ which sounds like Supertramp (no this is a GOOD thing).

Seemingly a concept album about rumpo (or the lack of), with much parping of mariachi horns and reverb drenched twangola guitars, it does somewhat outstay it's welcome and lose it's way about 2/3's of the way through, but the first 7 tracks are storming, ‘Tropics Of Love’ in particular sidles it's latino way onto the stereo on numerous occasions. Nice work.
