Foe - Arm Yourself With Clairvoyance [lp] House Of Stairs
Power is, of course, nothing without control, and Foe have enough of both to last Metallica for their next 10 albums.

Like Helmet and Prong jamming with Dillinger Escape Plan, this is brutal, stomping metal set to a jazz score, all biting riffs and elusive time signatures that make for a thrilling, unpredictable ride.

The musicianship on display is at times bewildering, especially when you realise this monster is created by a 3-piece, but thankfully it is never too technical to leave mere mortals cold; the relentless, grinding muscle of 'Bloodmoss' and 'It's Been A Hard Year For Mr David Cyberman' ensures that this is so much more than a mere lesson in self-indulgence.

Foe are that rarity in modern metal - intensity with both intelligence and a tune - and this is a hugely exciting statement of intent.
