Chatfield State Park, Littleton, CO, USA - CO ARNG Fire Training, 12 April 2015

As another potentially busy fire season in Colorado draws near, the Colorado Army National Guard (CO ARNG) have been performing their annual Bambi Bucket training at Chatfield State Park south of Denver, plus at the publicly inaccessible Stronita Springs Reservoir a few minutes flying from Chatfield.

As in previous years there have also been National Forest Service firefighters on the ground to direct the crews on where to drop, just as would happen when on a real wildfire.

This year only the UH-60 helicopters took part with a single UH-72 as an observation platform and aerial liaison.

Last year was a very quiet year in Colorado for wildfires, so this training was especially important in case the Army Guard get called to help in the flight.
